Gujarat Father Pushes 7-Year-Old Into Canal For Not Being a Boy: Mother Breaks Silence on Chilling Murder
What started as a tragic accident turned into a shocking murder case when Anjana Solanki couldn’t carry the weight of silence any longer. Haunted by guilt and grief, she revealed a horrifying truth to the police — her seven-year-old daughter, Bhoomika, hadn’t slipped into the Narmada canal, she had been deliberately pushed by her own father.
On June 10, Vijay Solanki and Anjana, residents of Kheda, Gujarat, took their elder daughter Bhoomika on a two-wheeler ride after visiting a local temple. On the way back, Anjana mentioned visiting her parents. That’s when Vijay, coldly rejecting her, responded, "I wanted a boy and you gave birth to a girl."
Moments later, around 8 PM, on Waghavat bridge in Kapadvanj, Vijay stopped the bike. Without warning, he pushed Bhoomika into the fast-flowing Narmada canal. Anjana, in complete shock, was threatened with divorce if she dared to speak up. He then left her at her parent’s home, as though nothing had happened.
What Really Happened on June 10?
As per Kheda SP Rajesh Gadhiya, the couple initially spun a story — claiming Bhoomika had slipped while watching fish by the canal. Authorities began their probe, later discovering Bhoomika’s slippers and her lifeless body downstream.
“At first, we registered it as an accidental death,” said SP Gadhiya. “But inconsistencies in their story raised red flags. During questioning, Anjana broke down and revealed the horrifying truth, even guiding us back to the exact crime scene.”
Overcome with emotion, Anjana told reporters: “My husband told Bhoomika to stand near the canal. He pretended to show her fish... and then pushed her in. Before I could react, she was gone. I was frozen, helpless.” That night, she said, she couldn’t even sleep.
Twisted Motive Behind the Murder
According to Anjana, the motive behind the cold-blooded act was simple and sinister — Vijay wanted a son and couldn’t accept having two daughters. Married for 11 years, the couple had frequent arguments over the issue. After giving birth to their second daughter, now three years old, Anjana said she faced constant abuse and pressure.
She revealed that Vijay forced her to lie to the police and stick to the "fish" story, warning her not to disclose the murder of their child.
Accused Behind Bars
Following Anjana’s heart-wrenching confession, police arrested Vijay Solanki. “He is in custody, and we are investigating all possible angles — including any involvement of superstitious beliefs,” said SP Gadhiya.
This case is a gut-wrenching reminder of the dangers of patriarchal mindsets, and the unspeakable pain some families silently endure. Justice is finally on its course — but the scars of this crime will linger forever.
